Lafayette Gun Club Narrowly Defeats Grossmont NJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Lafayette Gun Club edged out Grossmont NJROTC 1031.7 to 1027.7 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row. Lafayette Gun Club was led by Alexandra Orr who shot a 272.6. The remaining contributing members were Makayla Sigler, Christina Morris, and Hudson Monteith. They are from Grafton, VA, and are coached by Charles Orr.
Lafayette Gun Club competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in thirty-second place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they finish in third place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Lafayette Gun Club preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.
Snapping a two game win streak Grossmont NJROTC was led by Malia Lebhar who shot a 264.8. The remaining contributing members were Iann Martinez , Xavier Huerta, and Joel Ordaz. Grossmont NJROTC is from El Cajon, CA, and is coached by Max Velasquez.
Grossmont NJROTC also competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in twenty-eighth place with a 3 - 4 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Grossmont NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
