Norview NJROTC Narrowly Defeats Kofa MCJROTC
Norview NJROTC edged out Kofa MCJROTC 1110.5 to 1101.0 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. Norview NJROTC was led by Preston Everette who shot a 283.1. The remaining contributing members were Andreyona Smith, Dy'Ann Jones, and Quamir Barham. They are from Norfolk, VA, and are coached by LCDR Stuart Littlejohn.
Norview NJROTC competed in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in tenth place. Within the Navy JROTC Conference they finish in fourth place with a 4 - 3 record.
Next up, Norview NJROTC will compete as the second seed in the postseason Invitational Tournament. In the first round they will square off against seventh seed American Legion Post 290.
Thanks to their performance this season Norview NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Champions Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League Season. To complete their qualification, they must still shoot a minimum qualifying score, set for next season at 1035 (integer score for a 3x10), in a sanctioned competition within the next 10 months.
Shooting their highest team score of the season Kofa MCJROTC was led by Mildreth Hernandez who shot a 289.5. The remaining contributing members were Jasmine Escalera, Karla Borel, and Thifanny Cardenas. Kofa MCJROTC is from Yuma, AZ, and is coached by Todd Birney.
Kofa MCJROTC also competed in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in twentieth place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.
Thanks to their performance this season Kofa MCJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
