Ramona NJROTC defeats Selma MCJROTC
Ramona NJROTC defeated Selma MCJROTC 1103.0 to 1041.4 in the 2023 National Sporter Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. Ramona NJROTC was led by Audrey Norton who shot a 281.7. The remaining contributing members were Nathan Anliker, Wyatt Koerner, and Troy Hedges. They are from Ramona, CA, and are coached by CDR Rick Jordan.
Ramona NJROTC competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in second place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they finish in first place. They finished the regular season with a 6 - 1 record.
Next up, Ramona NJROTC will compete in the Distinguished Conference Tournament as the NJROTC first seed. They will compete against second seed Eldorado NJROTC.
Thanks to their performance this season Ramona NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Champions Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League Season. To complete their qualification, they must still shoot a minimum qualifying score, set for next season at 1035 (integer score for a 3x10), in a sanctioned competition within the next 10 months.
Selma MCJROTC was led by Jessica Maldonado who shot a 276.6. The remaining contributing members were Kimberly Torres, Eliana Dominguez, and Dulce Gallardo. Selma MCJROTC is from Selma, CA, and is coached by Mike Romero.
Selma MCJROTC also competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in ninth place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 2 record.
Next up, Selma MCJROTC will compete in the Distinguished Conference Tournament as the MCJROTC second seed. They will compete against first seed Mountain View MCJROTC.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, kneeling, prone, and standing. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
