Grove City NJROTC defeats Hickman County AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Grove City NJROTC defeated Hickman County AJROTC 951.2 to 876.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, Grove City NJROTC is in twenty-first place overall and fifth place within their 'Navy Jrotc' conference. They currently have a 1 - 1 record. Grove City NJROTC was led by, Darci Ringhiser who shot a 240.6. The remaining contributing members were Caroline Richards, Ashton Writsel, and Mallory June. Grove City NJROTC is from Grove City, OH, and is coached by CDR Dustin Martin.
Hickman County AJROTC currently has a 0 - 2 record. Shooting their highest team score of the season Hickman County AJROTC was led by, Alana Reich who shot a 235.9. The remaining contributing members were Jeremy Watkins, Seth Eisenhuth, and Lily Richardson. Hickman County AJROTC is from Centerville, TN, and is coached by Charles Price.

These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
