Cumberland Beagle Club defeats Sickles AFJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Cumberland Beagle Club defeated Sickles AFJROTC 2331.7 to 2281.4 in the 2023 National Precision Air Rifle League. Cumberland Beagle Club was led by Aly Rock who shot a 596.3. The remaining contributing members were Madison Clarke, Jonny Proulx, and Ava DeAmaral. They are from Cumberland, RI, and are coached by Tim Flanagan.
Cumberland Beagle Club competed in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in second place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they finish in second place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
Next up, Cumberland Beagle Club will compete as the second seed in the post season Distinguished Conference Tournament. They will compete against first seeded Rio Salado Sportsman's Club.
Thanks to their performance this season Cumberland Beagle Club preliminarily qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League.

The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is nearly identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 60 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
