Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club Narrowly Defeats Granbury MCJROTC

Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club edged out Granbury MCJROTC 2438.5 to 2435.7 in the 2023 National Precision Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club was led by Trey Myers who shot a 622.6. The remaining contributing members were Karlie Lynn, George Kuhne, and Kinzey Williams. They are from Everett, PA, and are coached by George Kuhne.

Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club competed in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in third place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they finish in third place with a 5 - 2 record.

Next up, Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club will compete as the third seed in the post season Championship Tournament. They will compete against sixth seeded Sarasota Military Academy.

Thanks to their performance this season Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club preliminarily qualifies for the Champions Division in the 2024 National Air Rifle League Season. The league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.

The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.

In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is nearly identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 60 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Scored in decimal, each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
