Carroll County 4-H Narrowly Defeats Lake County Aces
Shooting their highest score of the season Carroll County 4-H edged out Lake County Aces 1962.9 to 1945.5 last week in the National BB Gun League. Carroll County 4-H finishes the regular season in fourth place in their Division with a 2 - 4 record. Carroll County 4-H was led by Sara Jennings who shot a 397.2. The remaining contributing members were Benjamin McDermitt, Will Hanson, Brian Stewart, and James Capes. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Carroll County 4-H will go on to compete in the post-season tournament where they are the number 3 seed. This is their third consecutive invite to the post-season. Their first round game is against fellow Georgian and number 2 seed, Walton County 4-H.
Lake County Aces dropped to 2 - 4 on the season. They finish the season in fifth place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Lake County Aces was led by Lance Lee who shot a 401.6. The remaining contributing members were Thomas Mallett, Amanda Bensen, Brayden Ulwelling, and Colby Briggs. Lake County Aces is from Madison, SD, and is coached by Jennifer & Wade Briggs.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
