Gwinnett Shooting Sports defeats NorthWest Shooters

Shooting their highest score of the season Gwinnett Shooting Sports defeated NorthWest Shooters 1899.6 to 1650.4 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their fifth win in a row, Gwinnett Shooting Sports is in first place in their Division with a 5 - 0 record. Gwinnett Shooting Sports was led by Chase Trammell who shot a 392.6. The remaining contributing members were Bailey Wagner, Diala Abu Awad, Jayce Wiggs, and Riley Hitchcock. Gwinnett Shooting Sports is from Sugar Hill, GA, and is coached by Robert Herrington.

NorthWest Shooters dropped to 1 - 3 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season NorthWest Shooters was led by Nathan Windham who shot a 365.7. The remaining contributing members were Olivia Brooks , Avery Boldt, Robert Lee, and Conrad Gonzalez. NorthWest Shooters is from Cypress, TX, and is coached by Randall Jennings.

Next up Gwinnett Shooting Sports will compete against Candler County 4-H from Metter, GA. Candler County 4-H currently has a 0 - 5 record. NorthWest Shooters will compete against Buffalo County 4-H from Kearney, NE. Buffalo County 4-H currently has a 1 - 3 record.

These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
