Roaring Rifles defeats NorthWest Shooters

Shooting their highest score of the season Roaring Rifles defeated NorthWest Shooters 1875.7 to 1711.3 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Roaring Rifles is in fourth place in their Division with a 2 - 1 record. Roaring Rifles was led by Michael Gruber who shot a 383.1. The remaining contributing members were Adam Reinsch, Emily Shioutakon, Asiya Abdullah, and Aj Cavanaugh. Roaring Rifles is from Germantown, MD, and is coached by Ed Compton.

NorthWest Shooters dropped to 1 - 2 on the season. They are currently in sixth place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season NorthWest Shooters was led by Nathan Windham who shot a 364.9. The remaining contributing members were Olivia Brooks , Avery Boldt, Owen Miller, and Conrad Gonzalez. NorthWest Shooters is from Cypress, TX, and is coached by Randall Jennings.

Next up Roaring Rifles will compete against Morgan County 4-H from Madison, GA. Morgan County 4-H currently has a 3 - 1 record. NorthWest Shooters will compete against Gwinnett Shooting Sports from Sugar Hill, GA. Gwinnett Shooting Sports currently has a 4 - 0 record.

These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
