Buffalo County 4-H defeats NorthWest Shooters

Shooting their highest score of the season Buffalo County 4-H defeated NorthWest Shooters 1781.0 to 1656.4 last week in the National BB Gun League. Their second win in a row, Buffalo County 4-H is in sixth place in their Division with a 2 - 3 record. Buffalo County 4-H was led by Luke Olson who shot a 370.8. The remaining contributing members were Zach Olson, Evan Kinneson, Bryana Royle, and Carlee Mashek. Buffalo County 4-H is from Kearney, NE, and is coached by Kevin Taylor.

NorthWest Shooters dropped to 1 - 4 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season NorthWest Shooters was led by Avery Boldt who shot a 340.8. The remaining contributing members were Nathan Windham, Conrad Gonzalez, Owen Miller, and Olivia Brooks . NorthWest Shooters is from Cypress, TX, and is coached by Randall Jennings.

Next up Buffalo County 4-H will compete against Roaring Rifles from Germantown, MD. Roaring Rifles currently has a 3 - 2 record. NorthWest Shooters will compete against Lyon County 4-H from Emporia, KS. Lyon County 4-H currently has a 2 - 3 record.

These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.

BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
