Shawnee NJROTC Narrowly Defeats North Port NJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Shawnee NJROTC edged out North Port NJROTC 754.4 to 741.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Shawnee NJROTC was led by Matthew Robinson who shot a 229.4. The remaining contributing members were Daggan James, Jayden Oneil, and Krys Nacionales. They are from Louisville, KY, and are coached by Ronnie Cox.
Shawnee NJROTC is competing in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in twenty-eighth place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they finish in fifth place. They finished the regular season with a 1 - 6 record.
The cut scores are still unofficially, however Shawnee NJROTC likely will qualify for the Elite Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Shooting their highest team score of the season North Port NJROTC was led by John Miller who shot a 206.3. The remaining contributing members were Kayla Johnston, Alexander Frljanic, and Desmond Walton. North Port NJROTC is from North Port, FL, and is coached by Dee Barnes.
North Port NJROTC is also competing in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in twenty-ninth place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they finish in sixth place. They finished the regular season with a 2 - 3 record.

Post-season teams and squadding will be posted to the league website and emailed to coaches shortly.
Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
