Grove City Christian School Narrowly Defeats Joliet West AJROTC
Grove City Christian School edged out Joliet West AJROTC 993.6 to 985.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. Grove City Christian School was led by Carter Freeman who shot a 251.5. The remaining contributing members were Natalie Chevraux, Rhesa Yank, and Jake Wilson. They are from Grove City, OH, and are coached by Curt Mayhew.
Grove City Christian School is competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in thirty-first place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they finish in fifth place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season Grove City Christian School likely qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Joliet West AJROTC was led by Tristan Wegner who shot a 251.8. The remaining contributing members were Michael Deuter, Dana Malec, and Daryl Goutremout. Joliet West AJROTC is from Joliet, IL, and is coached by Benjamin White.
Overall Joliet West AJROTC finishes the regular season sixty-seventh. They finished the regular season with a 2 - 5 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
