Pueblo County AJROTC Narrowly Defeats Abraham Lincoln AJROTC
Pueblo County AJROTC edged out Abraham Lincoln AJROTC 1084.1 to 1071.7 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their second win in a row. Pueblo County AJROTC was led by Maximus Wilcox who shot a 279.3. The remaining contributing members were Joshua Romero, Cheyanne Ainsworth , and Raquel Martinez. They are from Pueblo, CO, and are coached by Arnold Lewis.
Pueblo County AJROTC is competing in the Champions Division where they finish the regular season in twentieth place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they finish in seventh place. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season Pueblo County AJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Champions Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season. To complete their qualification, they must still shoot a 1035 or higher in a sanctioned competition within the next year.
Shooting their highest team score of the season Abraham Lincoln AJROTC was led by Silvia Cruz who shot a 277.5. The remaining contributing members were Laura Garcia, Gabe Lara, and Daisy Casas. Abraham Lincoln AJROTC is from Denver, CO, and is coached by MSG Mark Beasley.
Overall Abraham Lincoln AJROTC finishes the regular season forty-first. They finished the regular season with a 4 - 3 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
