Cumberland Beagle Club defeats Warren Central MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Cumberland Beagle Club defeated Warren Central MCJROTC 1019.6 to 995.1 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. Cumberland Beagle Club was led by Abby Violett who shot a 273.1. The remaining contributing members were Aly Rock, Madison Clarke, and Jonny Proulx. They are from Cumberland, RI, and are coached by Tim Flanagan.
Cumberland Beagle Club is competing in the Champions Division where they are currently ranked in twenty-fourth place. Within the Junior Rifle Club Conference they are in fourth place. They have a 3 - 3 record.
Warren Central MCJROTC was led by Shawn Lovins who shot a 260.8. The remaining contributing members were Isaiah Rice, Ethan Morehead, and Xavier Higgins. Warren Central MCJROTC is from Indianapolis, IN, and is coached by Juan Anorga.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
