New Caney AJROTC defeats Eastern AJROTC
New Caney AJROTC defeated Eastern AJROTC 1002.7 to 905.7 last week in the National Air Rifle League. New Caney AJROTC was led by Ricardo Rosario who shot a 259.7. The remaining contributing members were Drake Casey, Johnathan Mize, and Juan Llaguno. They are from New Caney, TX, and are coached by Jonathan Concepcion.
New Caney AJROTC is competing in the Elite Division where they are currently ranked in seventh place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in fifth place. They have a 3 - 2 record.
Snapping a four game win streak Eastern AJROTC was led by Eryn Ratacizak who shot a 234.7. The remaining contributing members were Jonathan Schweikert, Amanda Irizarry, and Amari Frazier. Eastern AJROTC is from Louisville, KY, and is coached by John D. Sallee.
Eastern AJROTC is also competing in the Elite Division where they are currently ranked in ninth place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in seventh place. They have a 4 - 1 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
