Palmyra Sportsmen's Assoc defeats Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club
Palmyra Sportsmen's Assoc defeated Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club 2188 to 2063 in the National Air Pistol League. Palmyra Sportsmen's Assoc finishes the season in second place overall. They finished the season with a 5 - 1 record. Palmyra Sportsmen's Assoc was led by, Kyler Swisher who shot a 560. The remaining contributing members were Jeff Lutz, Sam Shenk, and Kyle Black. Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club finished the season with a 1 - 5 record. They finishes the season in seventh place overall. Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club was led by, Ben Larimer who shot a 534. The remaining contributing members were Vadim Nikitin, Kurt Andersen, and Ed Gentry. Arvada Rifle and Pistol Club is from Golden, CO, and is coached by Marilyn Mumby.
Due to the large number of school and club closings in light of the coronavirus outbreak, the remainder of the league has been cancelled and awards will be issued based on the seven weeks of competition completed so far. League teams who are still meeting have the option to participate in several weekly invitational games in lieu of the regular season.
These two teams are competing in the National Air Pistol League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for clubs throughout the United States. Over 10 weeks each team competes in 8 games. Each week, each team is paired with another team with a near equal win-loss record.
In each game the teams compete in a 60 shot air pistol match. This competition is identical to the Air Pistol events in the Olympic games. Each athlete will shoots 60 shots, with each shot worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 60 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
