Missouri Military Academy Upsets A. C. Mosley MCJROTC
Missouri Military Academy upset A. C. Mosley MCJROTC 976 to 892 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Missouri Military Academy was able to win despite averaging 19 points lower than A. C. Mosley MCJROTC coming into this game.
Their fifth win in a row. They finished the season with a 6 - 1 record. Missouri Military Academy was led by, William Baker who shot a 254. The remaining contributing members were Rene Garcia, Lance Newland, and Landy Nguyen. Missouri Military Academy is from Mexico, MO, and is coached by CPT Joseph Balvanz.
A. C. Mosley MCJROTC finished the season with a 3 - 4 record. They finishes the season in eighth place within their 'Marine Corps Jrotc' conference. A. C. Mosley MCJROTC was led by, Jocelyn Dabbs who shot a 241. The remaining contributing members were Julia Blackburn, Caroline Dinkins, and Elissa Burch. A. C. Mosley MCJROTC is from Lynn Haven, FL, and is coached by Kenneth Hicks.
These two teams are competing in the Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by a single game Conference Title Game for the top two teams in each conference.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
