Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club defeats Henderson County AJROTC
Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club defeated Henderson County AJROTC 1421 to 1388 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club finishes the season in fifth place overall and second place within their 'Junior Rifle Club' conference. They finished the season with a 4 - 3 record. Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club was led by, Madeline Biddinger who shot a 368. The remaining contributing members were Lindsey Foshee, Kayla Reifel, and Emma MacKenzie. Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club is from Eagle River, AK, and is coached by Samantha Taylor.
Alaska Eagle Eye Shooting Club will advance to the post-season as part of their conference's title game. They will take on North Gwinnett High School for the Junior Rifle Club Conference title. The game is scheduled for 26 November - 2 December 2018.
Henderson County AJROTC finished the season with a 0 - 7 record. They finishes the season in eleventh place overall and eighth place within their 'Jrotc' conference. Shooting their highest team score of the season Henderson County AJROTC was led by, Emma Olson who shot a 364. The remaining contributing members were Zachariah Stokes, Briana Duncan, and Justin Morgan. Henderson County AJROTC is from Henderson, KY, and is coached by Rosentreter Victor.
These two teams are competing in the Junior Rifle Club Precision Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now. Followed by a single game conference title game for the top two teams in the JROTC and Junior Rifle Club divisions.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Standing Air Rifle match. The match is almost identical to the air rifle events in the Olympic Games. Each athlete shoots 40 shots in the standing position, the most difficult position in rifle competitions. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
