Lake Houston 4-H Narrowly Defeats Carroll County 4-H
Shooting their highest score of the season Lake Houston 4-H edged out Carroll County 4-H 1950.8 to 1938.9 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Lake Houston 4-H is in sixth place in their Division with a 1 - 3 record. Lake Houston 4-H was led by Ainsley Day who shot a 399.6. The remaining contributing members were Kayla Ressler, Olivia Schammel, Chance Stephens, and Reagan Johnson. Lake Houston 4-H is from Kingwood, TX, and is coached by Steven Schammel.
Carroll County 4-H dropped to 0 - 3 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Shooting their highest team score of the season Carroll County 4-H was led by James Capes who shot a 398.4. The remaining contributing members were Sara Jennings, Benjamin McDermott, Janna Lee, and Sarah Bearden. Carroll County 4-H is from Bowden, GA, and is coached by Scott Carroll.
Next up Lake Houston 4-H will compete against Walton County 4-H from Monroe, GA. Walton County 4-H currently has a 4 - 0 record. Carroll County 4-H will compete against Forsyth County 4-H from Cumming, GA. Forsyth County 4-H currently has a 2 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Champions Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The Champions Division is comprised of the top teams in the league. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is scored with tenth of a ring accuracy and worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
