Western Nebraska Shooting Sports defeats Buffalo County 4-H
Western Nebraska Shooting Sports defeated Buffalo County 4-H 1735 to 1632 last week in the National BB Gun League. With the win, Western Nebraska Shooting Sports is in second place in their Division with a 1 - 0 record. Western Nebraska Shooting Sports was led by Kathryn Blankenship who shot a 362. The remaining contributing members were Austin Rahmig, Jessica Splichal, Danika Bohl, and Madyson Fisher. Western Nebraska Shooting Sports is from Mitchell, NE, and is coached by Troy Svoboda.
Buffalo County 4-H dropped to 0 - 1 on the season. They are currently in fourth place in their Division. Buffalo County 4-H was led by Zach Olson who shot a 341. The remaining contributing members were Cody Hromadka, Olivian Lappe, Bryana Royle, and Avery Lopez. Buffalo County 4-H is from Kearney, NE, and is coached by Kevin Taylor.
Next up Western Nebraska Shooting Sports will compete against Marengo County 4-H from Lynden, AL. Marengo County 4-H currently has a 0 - 1 record. Buffalo County 4-H will compete against Midland Young Guns from Midland, TX. Midland Young Guns currently has a 0 - 1 record.
These two teams are competing in the Elite Division of the Orion National BB Gun League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for BB Gun teams. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top four teams who will compete for the league championship.
BB Gun programs teach gun safety and competitive marksmanship skills to athletes 8 to 15 years of age. Each game in the league teams compete in what is known as a four-position match. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in four different shooting positions, prone, standing, sitting and kneeling at a distance of 5m. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 40 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best five athletes from each team.
