New Braunfels MCJROTC defeats Dallastown MCJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season New Braunfels MCJROTC defeated Dallastown MCJROTC 988 to 930 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, New Braunfels MCJROTC is in fourth place in their Division with a 1 - 1 record. New Braunfels MCJROTC was led by Samuel Baumbach who shot a 262. The remaining contributing members were Sarah Tetzlaff, Joaquin Soliza, and Janie Aguilar. New Braunfels MCJROTC is from New Braunfels, TX, and is coached by Mark House.
Dallastown MCJROTC dropped to 0 - 1 on the season. They are currently in seventh place in their Division. Dallastown MCJROTC was led by Zachary Grove who shot a 239. The remaining contributing members were Ashley Henry, Hunter Eberly, and Christian Williamson. Dallastown MCJROTC is from Dallastown, PA, and is coached by Matthew Corwin.

These two teams are competing in the Marine Corps JROTC Distinguished Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top eight teams who will compete for the league championship.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
