R. L. Paschal AJROTC Narrowly Defeats Dickson County AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season R. L. Paschal AJROTC edged out Dickson County AJROTC 918 to 906 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, R. L. Paschal AJROTC is in seventh place in their Division with a 1 - 5 record. R. L. Paschal AJROTC was led by Dulce Flores who shot a 237. The remaining contributing members were Blake Lenington, Molly Carmen, and Jesus Jimenez. R. L. Paschal AJROTC is from Fort Worth, TX, and is coached by Terry LeBoeuf.
Dickson County AJROTC dropped to 0 - 6 on the season. They are currently in eighth place in their Division. Dickson County AJROTC was led by Bryanne Barrett who shot a 249. The remaining contributing members were Mary Markem, Nicholas Smith, and Ethan Early. Dickson County AJROTC is from Dickson, TN, and is coached by LTC David Bates.

These two teams are competing in the Army JROTC Elite Division of the Orion National Air Rifle League. Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week round-robin regular season going on now. Followed by a single-elimination tournament, for the top eight teams who will compete for the league championship.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoots 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
