Ben Davis MCJROTC Narrowly Defeats Mosley MCJROTC
Ben Davis MCJROTC edged out Mosley MCJROTC 1015.3 to 1010.8 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Ben Davis MCJROTC was led by Christopher Robinette who shot a 257.4. The remaining contributing members were Josue Diaz, Mateo Gomez, and Robert Petty. They are from Indianapolis, IN, and are coached by Joseph Martin.
Ben Davis MCJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they finish the regular season in twenty-second place. Within the Marine Corps Jrotc Conference they finish in sixth place. They finished the regular season with a 3 - 3 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season Ben Davis MCJROTC likely qualifies for the Distinguished Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season.
Shooting their highest team score of the season Mosley MCJROTC was led by Sara Bellido who shot a 264.2. The remaining contributing members were Kerri Kittrell, Brandon Brady, and Gavin Luther. Mosley MCJROTC is from Lynn Haven, FL, and is coached by Kenneth Hicks.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
