Ramona NJROTC defeats Summerlin Academy AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Ramona NJROTC defeated Summerlin Academy AJROTC 1070.0 to 1038.4 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Ramona NJROTC was led by Aodhan MacLochlainn who shot a 282.3. The remaining contributing members were Audrey Norton, Nathan Anliker, and Wyatt Barrett. They are from Ramona, CA, and are coached by CDR Rick Jordan.
Ramona NJROTC is competing in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in first place. Within the Navy Jrotc Conference they finish in first place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.
The cut scores for next season are still unofficial, however thanks to their performance this season Ramona NJROTC preliminarily qualifies for the Champions Division in the 2023 National Air Rifle League Season. To complete their qualification, they must still shoot a 1035 or higher in a sanctioned competition within the next year.
Snapping a four game win streak Summerlin Academy AJROTC was led by William Ausmus who shot a 286.0. The remaining contributing members were Keegan Salm, Hendrix Adams, and Juan Nino. Summerlin Academy AJROTC is from Bartow, FL, and is coached by Lamonte Munns.
Summerlin Academy AJROTC is also competing in the Elite Division where they finish the regular season in second place. They finished the regular season with a 5 - 2 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
