Waimea AJROTC defeats Seneca Valley AJROTC
Waimea AJROTC defeated Seneca Valley AJROTC 1062.1 to 1041.2 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fifth win in a row. Waimea AJROTC was led by Fredy Padamada who shot a 269.4. The remaining contributing members were Rochelle Uri, Lee Ann Saniatan, and Kaye Marie Alvarez. They are from Waimea, HI, and are coached by William Wilder.
Waimea AJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in second place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in first place. They have a 5 - 1 record.
Shooting their highest team score of the season Seneca Valley AJROTC was led by Hayden Pearce who shot a 266.4. The remaining contributing members were Lexi Bardos, Wesley Marks, and Logan Randall . Seneca Valley AJROTC is from Harmony, PA, and is coached by 1SG Angelo Lettiere.
Seneca Valley AJROTC is also competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in eleventh place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in third place. They have a 4 - 1 record.
This coming week Waimea AJROTC has a bye week. While Seneca Valley AJROTC will compete against Round Rock MCJROTC from Round Rock, TX. Round Rock MCJROTC currently has a 3 - 2 record.
Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
