Seneca Valley AJROTC defeats Hoke County AJROTC
Seneca Valley AJROTC defeated Hoke County AJROTC 1026.2 to 993.0 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their fourth win in a row. Seneca Valley AJROTC was led by Logan Randall who shot a 265.2. The remaining contributing members were Wesley Marks, Lexi Bardos, and Peyton Brucker. They are from Harmony, PA, and are coached by 1SG Angelo Lettiere.
Seneca Valley AJROTC is competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in eighth place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in third place. They have a 4 - 0 record.
Snapping a two game win streak Hoke County AJROTC was led by Savanna Boettge who shot a 257.1. The remaining contributing members were Xavier Scott, Jaiden Johnson, and De'Angelo Servant. Hoke County AJROTC is from Raeford, NC, and is coached by Harold Thacker.
Hoke County AJROTC is also competing in the Distinguished Division where they are currently ranked in twenty-first place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in eighth place. They have a 2 - 1 record.
This coming week Seneca Valley AJROTC has a bye week. While Hoke County AJROTC will compete against Ansbach AJROTC from Ansbach, Germany. Ansbach AJROTC currently has a 1 - 3 record.
Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
