Moberly AJROTC defeats Pueblo County AJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season Moberly AJROTC defeated Pueblo County AJROTC 1065.4 to 980.3 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Their third win in a row. Moberly AJROTC was led by MacKenzie Hopper who shot a 272.4. The remaining contributing members were Anastaza Buckner, Jenna Walz, and Joseph Gibbs. They are from Moberly, MO, and are coached by 1SG Jeff Parks.
Moberly AJROTC is competing in the Champions Division where they are currently ranked in sixteenth place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in fifth place. They have a 3 - 0 record.
Pueblo County AJROTC was led by Maximus Wilcox who shot a 259.4. The remaining contributing members were Sariga Suresh, Raquel Martinez, and Isaiah Ramos. Pueblo County AJROTC is from Pueblo, CO, and is coached by Arnold Lewis.
Pueblo County AJROTC is also competing in the Champions Division where they are currently ranked in twenty-first place. Within the Army Jrotc Conference they are in seventh place. They have a 1 - 2 record.

Sponsored by the Orion Scoring System, the league is a national team league for high school teams and junior rifle clubs. The league has two parts. An 8 week regular season going on now, followed by the post-season.
The Champions Division is reserved for the top teams in the country. The top eight teams from the Champions Division regular season will compete in a single elimination tournament for the league championships.
The Distinguished Division are the second tiered teams, followed by the Elite Division.
In each game the teams compete in what is known as a Three-Position Air Rifle match. The match is modeled after Olympic Rifle competitions but adapted to high school age athletes. Each athlete will shoot 10 shots in three different shooting positions, prone, standing, and kneeling. Each shot is worth a maximum of 10.9 points. The sum of points scored in the 30 shots is the athlete's total. The team score is comprised of the best four athletes from each team.
