Orion is now available at our online store.
Once you place an order for the Orion Scoring System (either through our website or a purchase order), you will receive a "Welcome" email from Shooter's Technology. That email contains important instructions on where and how to download Orion.
PLEASE NOTE: The Orion installation files are available online only through a secure download process. You will need your account ID and password from your "Welcome" email to access this site. You will also need to accept the End User License Agreement prior to downloading.
Orion accuracy when used with a well maintained air rifle is better than .10mm, most shots are scored better than .05mm. Orion includes a "confidence" rating on each shot, letting you know just how accurate the shot was scored. Air rifles with velocity below 450fps will have shots that are not scored as accurately.
Orion supports three position air rifle and 40 or 60 shot air rifle courses of fire. Individual and team matches are supported, as well as matches with finals. Support for National Match Air Rifle indoor smallbore shooting will be available in the Spring of 2010.
Currently, a $398 Orion license allows one (1) user to use one (1) computer to score air rifle targets for one (1) year. After the first year, a renewal license is available for $79 per year. The renewal license includes all Orion upgrades, phone support, and email support. Site licenses for large organizations are also available.
An Orion software license alone is $398.
An Orion software license bundled with 1000 Orion targets is $498.
A single copy of Orion, running on a dual core machine can support between a 20 and 30 point range. If you have a range with more than 30 firing points, multiple workstations running Orion is recommended.
Orion only works with specially designed targets. Orion targets are printed on A4 paper size to fit commodity scanners. Orion targets also use higher grade paper to produce cleaner shot holes.
Only targets that read "Designed for use with Orion Scoring System" may be used and scored with Orion.
Targets for use with the Orion Scoring System are now available directly through Shooters Technology. Please visit our website at: http://store.orionscoringsystem.com/targets.html
Orion has been tested with and supports the Canon DR-3010C and DR-4010C. Other flatbed scanners and some automatic document feeder scanners may also work (but are not supported). Scanners must be able to scan in color, 300DPI, have a white or black reference color, and handle the heavier weighted 200gsm target paper. The reference color is the color of the shot holes when scanned.
The scanner choice is largely dependent on the number of firing points you need to support each match and the number of matches you plan to run each year. The 3010 can comfortably support up to a 12 to 20 firing point range. A single 4010 can comfortably support up to a 40 to 60 firing point range. The other determining factor is the number of targets you expect to score each year. If you plan to score more than 5,000 targets a year the 4010 would be a better choice.
If your Canon DR-3010/4010 scanner is not feeding as well as it has in the past, it is probably time to replace the rollers.
Orion runs on Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, or XP based machines. A dual core processor of at least 2.4 GHz and 1GB of RAM is recommended.
